Just don??t. The absolute worst reel I??ve ever owned. They stuck a $20 gift card in the box for me if I leave a review. No thanks. I bought this for my son to use for the first fishing trip we??ve had together in years. He spent an entire afternoon fighting with this thing until the reel handle finally broke. Just plain trash.

Is this pole good for fishing sea water and off of piers ?
Answer: You can definitely fish off of Piers with no problem. If you’re talking about shore fishing on the ocean, it should be fine. Definitely not strong enough for deep sea fishing.

Either way you’ll definitely want to replace the string with something of a better quality. The string it comes with you can snap with your hands.

Id like to take my son fishing off the beach pier. What size rod would be best for that?
Answer: This depends on the boy’s age and size. Longer rods aid in casting further out. The size needs to be one he can handle. If you go to a place like Dick’s or another place specializing in hunting and fishing they can see your son and get him the proper length. My beach rods are my longest
