I work indoors in a jail on my feet all day over 50 hours a week. I’ve been wearing these boots for 6 months and they are holding up fabulously. Usually I destroy boots in less than 6 months by rubbing the heel cushion off and giving myself blisters. These are still going strong with no blisters, ever! Now that they’re well broken in they feel a lot more like I’m wearing tall sneakers than boots. I have destroyed the interiors of redwings, Rockies, and 5-11s in under 6 months, so the fact that I haven’t destroyed these must say something good.

These boots are awesome for waterproof and snow. They aren’t crazy warm, but they do block out some cold. You can pretty much grip anything with these on. I went camping in WV and we did some some boulder climbing, and I pretty much didn’t need my hands, because these things grip like tires. They are really easy to move around in and the ankle support is very strong. They are pretty light for boots. They look awesome, and again, I am really impressed by how waterproof they are.

The downside is that they weren’t great for hiking. 2 miles into our hike going up a mountain, the boots started pulling on my heals. It felt like the boot was trying to take my heal off. It was a mixture of rubbing and pulling. I tried re-tying them and adjusting them and that didn’t work. Fortunately our hike was cut short due to a mud slide, otherwise I don’t think I would have made it back to camp.

Overall, if you are looking for rugged and athletic boots, these work great. Just don’t take them on long hikes. I suggest other shoes for that. Walking around and doing labor intensive activities is fine. I used them in the snow as well, and they were great. Also, I did wear thick wool socks with them the entire time. I’m not sure if that would have made a difference with the heal issues, but I thought I would mention it in case someone knows better than me.
